We are thrilled to announce that Vincent ā€œVinnieā€ Da, a 2021 graduate of the Healthcare Leadership (HCL) program, has been named a Fulbright Scholar. He will conduct research in the Philippines, continuing his commitment to global health equity. šŸŒ

As UW Tacoma’s student body president in 2019–2021, Vinnie led with courage and compassion during the COVID-19 pandemic, advocating for students’ needs and ensuring their voices were heard. His leadership left a lasting mark on the campus community.

After graduation, Vinnie worked with the MultiCare Center for Health Equity & Wellness, implementing impactful programs that served diverse communities during the pandemic. A first-generation college student, he continues to give back to HCL through mentoring and student support.

"What sets the School of Nursing & Healthcare Leadership (SNHCL) at UW Tacoma apart is the meaningful, lasting relationships students form with faculty, connections that continue long after graduation. Since completing the program in 2021, I have remained closely connected with Dr. Christine Stevens, whose steady encouragement was a cornerstone of my undergraduate experience. Her unwavering support was instrumental in key milestones such as my Husky 100 recognition and Fulbright application, where she served as a recommender. Faculty like Dr. Stevens embody the spirit of the HCL program, supporting students not only academically, but as future leaders dedicated to equity and public service. The mentorship and guidance from SNHCL faculty have been foundational to the impactful path I am pursuing in healthcare today." - Vincent Da '27

We are incredibly proud of Vinnie’s accomplishments and excited to see what he’ll achieve next!

Congratulations, Vinnie!

Join us in celebrating Dr. Patsy Maloney as she retires from UWT!

Dr. Maloney has spent decades advancing nursing practice—first in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, where she served in clinical and leadership roles for over 20 years, and later in academia. With advanced degrees in nursing, organizational behavior, and professional education, she has always championed lifelong learning and the development of others.

At Pacific Lutheran University, she led the Center for Continued Nursing Learning for over two decades, supporting professional development for nurses across the South Sound. Most recently at University of Washington Tacoma, Dr. Maloney brought her expertise to our students and community, continuing to mentor and lead with passion.

She’s also a nationally recognized voice in nursing professional development, contributing to key publications and serving in leadership roles with the Association for Nursing Professional Development. A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, Dr. Maloney has truly helped shape the future of nursing.

Congratulations, Dr. Maloney! We’re grateful for your leadership and excited for what comes next!
