The 2026 ACE Summer Institute was a BIG success!
The event took place on June 17th at the NSU Tahlequah Campus and was a day packed with motivation, professional growth, networking, giveaways, and sessions designed specifically for educators and future teachers.
This year’s featured guests included:
• TikTok educator and viral sensation Jere Chang
• Renowned speaker and educator Dr. Valarie Camille Ford Jones
• Local principal at Ft. Gibson Intermediate School, Andrea Sifers, who is also the NAESP State Representative for Oklahoma through the Oklahome Assoc. of Elementary Principals/CCOSA, and is also certified from the National Institute of School Leadership
• PLUS a special half-day APK Seminar designed to help attendees prepare for certification success!
And here’s the scoop…100% of ACE students who have attended the APK Seminar have PASSED their certification exam! THIS IS HUGE!
Whether the educators are just beginning their certification journey or have years of classroom experience, the institute was designed to support, encourage, and empower.

Admission was FREE for ACE Institute scholarship recipients!

The Muscogee Nation Native Youth Community Project (NYCP) would like to remind teachers that the Future Mvskoke Educators Assistance Program application is OPEN! The Future Mvskoke Educators Assistance Program is an initiative designed to support the classroom needs of Educators. The program provides reimbursements, up to $200, for the following expenses:

Educational/Classroom Supplies - Native Educators may be reimbursed for classroom materials that support student learning
Teacher Certification Costs - Educators may receive financial assistance for costs associated with teacher certification or recertification, including exam fees

Emberton named executive director of CN Education Services

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. has named Aaron Emberton as executive director of Education Services.

Emberton, of Tahlequah, will oversee the tribe’s vast educational efforts, including college resources, the Early Childhood Unit, and various youth programs. Emberton has served the tribe since 2020, during a period of tremendous growth in scholarship funds and other investments into career and cultural programs.

“The greatest investment this government and Cherokee society can ever make will be its investment into our youth, since time immemorial we have always been a people who’ve valued education,” said Hoskin. “Aaron is well equipped to lead our Cherokee youth and all Cherokees who want to continue on their educational journey. I look forward to seeing the continued progress from Education Services.”

Emberton has served as the deputy executive director for Education Services since 2022. While serving in that role, the tribe has made historic investments to increase access to education, from college resource programs to replacing aging infrastructure.

“This appointment is a profound honor and responsibility,” said Emberton. “Education Services touches the lives of thousands of Cherokee citizens each year. We provide a safe, nurturing, learning environment for our children through an exceptional Early Childhood Unit. Our Higher Education department helps thousands of Cherokees to pursue their college degrees and fulfilling careers.” Emberton now leads more than 300 employees who work to enhance the lives of Cherokees across the reservation.

“I’m excited to lead this team and to develop new programming that strengthens our commitment to supporting Cherokee citizens throughout their educational journey. Wado, Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. and Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner, for entrusting me with this role,” said Emberton.

Emberton received his bachelor of science in chemistry from the University of Arkansas and his master of education with an emphasis in science education from Northeastern State University.

“I have full confidence in Aaron as he leads the Education Services team,” Warner said. “Aaron has done a fantastic job in his role as deputy executive director and I know he’ll be outstanding as the executive director. Aaron’s heart for service and passion for helping others makes him a great choice.”
