As our nation observes Labor Day, we pause to honor the generations of working men and women whose dedication, sacrifice, and service have strengthened our communities and contributed immeasurably to the progress of our nation.

Here at Talladega College, this observance holds special meaning. Our historic institution continues to advance because of the collective commitment of those who teach, mentor, serve, lead, maintain, protect, and support our College each day. To the faculty and staff, I extend my sincere gratitude for the many ways, both seen and unseen, that you contribute to the success of our students and the enduring legacy of Talladega College.

Our work in higher education is more than a profession; it is an investment in lives, families, communities, and future generations. I hope this Labor Day provides each of employee an opportunity for well-deserved rest, reflection, and meaningful time with family and loved ones.

Night three of the 2nd Annual Student Reception brought together Talladega College’s student leaders as Dr. Todd welcomed members of Student Engagement and Leadership to his home.

Representing the Royal Court, Student Government Association and Tornado Activity Board, these student leaders play an important role in shaping campus life, building community and creating meaningful experiences for their fellow Tornadoes. The evening was an opportunity to celebrate their leadership and continued commitment to Talladega College.

As we conclude the 2nd annual Student Reception, Dr. Todd welcomed Talladega College’s National Pan-Hellenic Council community, consisting of NPHC students and chapter advisors.

The evening celebrated the leadership, brotherhood and sisterhood represented throughout Talladega College’s Divine Nine community. Through fellowship and meaningful conversation, students and advisors came together to continue building connections beyond the classroom.

As we begin a new academic year, this special occasion will bring the Talladega College community together for reflection, celebration and a renewed commitment to the values that continue to shape our institution.

We are honored to welcome Dr. Cynthia T. Anthony ’84, President of Lawson State Community College, as this year’s keynote speaker.

The event will take place Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Henry Swift DeForest Chapel.
