🐍🧡💚 FAMU SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Up | Chicago Edition

The FAMU SAET was excited to welcome our incoming Chicago Rattlers to the first 2026 SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Up. Welcome, Brianna, Laiyana, Malcolm, and Peyton. We look forward to seeing the impact you will make at FAMU and beyond.

This SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Ups have two goals:
• Connect incoming students with FAMU alumni and professional mentors in their hometown before arriving on campus.
• Help future classmates build relationships with other students from their region who are beginning their journey at FAMU.

A sincere THANK YOU to FAMU SAET Alum Raymond “Taft” Cleveland for hosting the Chicago Mentor Meet-Up and sharing his professional experiences with our future architects and construction engineers. We also extend our appreciation to SmithGroup for opening its doors and providing an outstanding setting for the event.

This is just the beginning. Additional FAMU SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Ups will be held in Washington, DC, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, and South Florida as we continue to build connections among our students, alumni, and industry partners.

Week One is underway at the rear entrance of the FAMU Walter Smith building. Progress often starts with disruption, but each phase brings us closer to a more welcoming and functional entry point for the School.

More updates to come as the work continues.

As FAMU celebrates a record-setting Class of 2030 applicant pool, 💚🧡Architecture is listed among the “Top 10 Programs of Study”.🎉🎉

More students are seeing architecture as a pathway to creativity, leadership, community impact, technology, design excellence, and the future of the built environment. It also reflects the growing visibility of our students, faculty, alumni, and industry partners who continue to show what is possible through a FAMU architecture education.🐍

Thank you Jeffrey Pierce, II and !!! FAMU Undergraduate Admissions Rocks!!!

Congratulations to the FAMU School of Architecture & Engineering Technology Spring 2026 graduates.

Today, we celebrate the late nights, the calculations, the presentations, the revisions, the critiques, the deadlines, the teamwork, and the quiet determination that brought you to this moment. You have earned more than a degree. You have earned a place in the next generation of problem-solvers and leaders who will shape the built environment.

To our graduates in Architecture, Construction Engineering Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, and Facilities Management: we are proud of you. Carry the Rattler spirit with confidence, humility, and purpose. Strike. Strike. And Strike Again. 🐍🎓

Professor Anna Orosco is the kind of mentor every student hopes to find.

At the ARCC-EAAE International Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, Professor Orosco and sophomore Nyla Brown presented their paper, “Presenting A Framework For Collaboration With Beginning Design Students.” Their presentation reflects the power of mentorship, research, and the confidence that grows when faculty invest deeply in student success.

We are proud to see FAMU SAET represented through scholarship, collaboration, and the meaningful work happening between professors and students.

Some teachers never stop teaching—and we are better for it.

Retired FAMU SAET Professor Tim White has promised to return this fall to lead a perspective drawing workshop for our students.

Prof White brought clarity, passion, discipline, and care to the classroom in a way that left a lasting impression on students and colleagues alike. To have him return and pour into our fall students is a real gift.

This is what legacy looks like—experience shared, excellence continued, and students given the chance to learn from a master teacher.

And to our alumni—if you would be interested in joining the workshop, we would love to hear from you. Seats are limited!!!

Welcome back, Professor White.
