SCSD Ph.D. candidate Angelica Bernabe has been selected as one of only 40 students nationwide for ASHA’s 2026 Minority Student Leadership Program.

Representing Florida State University, Angelica will join emerging leaders in communication sciences and disorders for professional development, mentorship and networking opportunities.

Her journey is also a reminder that rejection doesn’t have to be the end—sometimes, it’s simply a reason to keep going. 💛❤️

SCOM student Sofia Zavala attended the first-ever Girls Inc. Girls Leading Change Summit! Sofia joined young women from across the country for an inspiring experience focused on leadership, empowerment, and creating positive change

“I have been attending Girls Inc. since I was a little girl, and I have a very deep love for it,” said Zavala. “I think it’s a great organization that brings women together to create positive change in our communities, and I feel like they're a big part of who I am now.”
