A new chapter of leadership for PAN! 🏳️‍🌈

We’re excited to celebrate Dr. Harry Barbee (MS ’16, PhD ’20) as our new Vice President!

Harry has been part of the PAN Board since 2023, bringing their time, talent, and commitment to several areas of our work along the way. We’re excited to see that leadership continue in this new role and for all that’s ahead for our network.

Help us show Harry some love and congratulate them on this next chapter!

Today we remember Marsha P. Johnson on her birthday and the impact she had on generations of LGBTQ+ people who came after her.

For us at the Pride Alumni Network at FSU, her story is a reminder that community doesn’t just happen. People choose to build it, stand up for it, and make sure others have a place in it.

That’s something we hope to keep doing for every generation of Noles.

Today, the Pride Alumni Network at FSU celebrates the Transgender Pride Flag and the community, history, and pride it represents.

Created by transgender activist and U.S. Navy veteran Monica Helms in 1999, the flag has become a powerful symbol of transgender visibility, identity, and belonging.

Today and every day, we celebrate our trans Noles, alumni, and friends. 🏳️‍⚧️

🏳️‍🌈 Honoring Stonewall

Yesterday marked the anniversary of the events of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn, a historic moment that helped ignite the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement and continues to inspire generations of LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.

As Pride Month comes to a close, the Pride Alumni Network at FSU honors the legacy of Stonewall and the courage, resilience, and advocacy of those whose actions helped advance equality and create greater opportunities for LGBTQ+ individuals to live authentically, build community, and thrive.

Their legacy reminds us that progress is made possible by those willing to stand up, speak out, and create spaces where everyone belongs. We remain committed to fostering a community where LGBTQ+ Seminoles are welcomed, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Today, we celebrate Marriage Equality Day.

On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges recognized the constitutional right of same-sex couples to marry nationwide.

Today, we reflect on this historic milestone, celebrate the progress made, and honor the countless individuals whose advocacy helped make it possible.

As members of the FSU Pride Alumni Network, we are proud to celebrate the diverse relationships, families, and experiences that strengthen our Seminole community.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth.

On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued. Juneteenth commemorates that moment and serves as a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the enduring contributions of Black Americans throughout our nation’s history.

As we recognize this important day, the Pride Alumni Network at FSU also honors the contributions of Black LGBTQ+ individuals whose leadership, advocacy, and lived experiences have helped strengthen our communities and advance the pursuit of belonging and equity.

Today, we honor the past, celebrate the present, and reaffirm our commitment to fostering a community where all Seminoles are welcomed, valued, and empowered to thrive.
