Congratulations to Anne's College faculty members Veronica Fleury and Addie McConomy on securing a $500,000 grant to expand access to specialized training for educators serving individuals with autism.

The funding will provide full scholarships for in-service teachers pursuing FSU's Autism Spectrum Disorder Graduate Certificate, supporting 75 educators over the next three years and helping strengthen the workforce.

Congratulations to Marriage and Family Therapy doctoral candidate Frances MacVicar on receiving the 2026 Anderson-Darling Family Graduate Teaching Assistant Award! 🎉

The award recognizes exceptional teaching ability among graduate teaching assistants in the Department of Human Development and Family Science. Frances pursued a Ph.D. to help train and develop future clinicians, a passion reflected in her engaging, experiential teaching that helps students connect classroom concepts to real-world practice.

Florida State University Schools - FSUS recently hosted its 2026 Research Showcase, bringing together educators, researchers, and university partners to share innovative ideas shaping teaching and learning.

From literacy and mathematics to AI, student support, and the arts, presenters shared research projects exploring real-world challenges and opportunities in K-12 education. The event highlighted the power of inquiry, collaboration, and university-school partnerships to improve outcomes for students.

Two Anne's College faculty members have earned fellowships recognizing their contributions to the field of nutrition.

Congratulations to Associate Professor Sarah A. Johnson and Betty M. Watts Endowed Professor Ravinder Nagpal on being named 2026 Excellence in Nutrition Fellows of ASN by the American Society for Nutrition, recognizing their outstanding contributions to nutrition science, practice, and professional service.

Johnson's research explores how nutrition can promote healthy aging and reduce disease risk, while Nagpal studies how the gut microbiome influences health and disease.

Congratulations to Anne's College students Lizzie Alba and Chelsea James on earning the 2026 Gilman Scholarship to study abroad!

Alba is a freshman pursuing a dual degree in psychology and human development and family science. She will intern in Madrid with the American Institute for Foreign Study, working with the YMCA to support parents and children in the community.

James, a junior majoring in social science education with a minor in child development, will participate in the Broad Curriculum Program at the FSU London Study Centre. After graduation next year, she plans to pursue a career in school leadership and hopes to expand student opportunities and transform the education landscape.

Shiv Patel, an undergraduate exercise physiology student at Anne's College, was recently selected for the prestigious John Robert Lewis Scholars & Fellows Program.

Patel is one of just 10 students nationwide chosen for this year’s cohort, which supports emerging leaders committed to advancing public service and community engagement.

At FSU, Patel is on the pre-med track and serves as president of the Student Health Advisory Committee and as health services director within Student Government. In these roles, he works to promote student wellness initiatives and improve access to health resources on campus.
