Department of Economic Development

The duties of the Secretary of Economic Development shall be:

Here to serve the student body of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University by broadening the horizon of financial literacy and career preparation amongst the student body! to coordinate sessions to help small clubs and organizations and A&S agencies put together productive fundraisers to supplement their budgets or accounts. to implement programs that teach students how to create wealth and pr

operly manage their assets (i.e. becoming an entrepreneur, investments, etc.). to handle negotiations with public and private firms concerning economic advantages and incentives for students. to expose the student body to networking opportunities, encourage entrepreneurship, and promote economic empowerment. to foster and develop corporate relationships for the sponsorship pf major student government events (i.e. Be Out Day, State of the Black Student Summit, etc.)

SUMMER SCHOOL STUDENTS
Summer Workshop Counselors Needed!
The School of Journalism & Graphic Communication is seeking students enrolled in summer 2013 courses to serve as counselors for its multimedia workshop for high school students. The week-long training will be held June 23-28.

Applicants must:
? have at least a 2.5 GPA.
? be willing to submit to a background check.
? be equipped to facilitate workshops.
? be willing to serve as chaperones during outings and supervise participants while staying in university housing.

General Mills in partnership with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) provides scholarships for students who live in the Congressional Black Caucus districts who plan to continue their education in the fields of medicine, engineering, technology, nutrition or another health-related field and have financial need. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice.
This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America. Scholarship Management Services is the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals.

Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) Career Center will host the C.C. Cunningham Career Center’s Spring 2013 Career Expo on Wednesday, January 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center. More than 60 companies will be in attendance. Some of the Fortune 500 corporations and organizations attending the expo are Deloitte, Macy’s, Walgreens, Walmart, Nielsen, State of Florida Auditor General, National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation/National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters Media Sales Institute, NexEra Energy (formerly FPL), CB&I, Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, and Orange and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Offices.
