Throughout the fellowship, students gained firsthand experience working alongside senior leaders across Florida state government while contributing to meaningful public policy initiatives.

In Fall 2025, FSU College of Law launched the First Amendment Clinic, providing pro bono legal representation to individuals and organizations across the country whose constitutional rights are at risk.

Through the clinic, students gain hands-on experience working directly with clients, conducting legal research, developing case strategies, and advocating for First Amendment freedoms. Weekly seminars further enhance their education and help prepare them to be effective defenders of constitutional rights.

Professor Rima Nathan, Clinical Professor and Director of the Claude Pepper Elder Law Clinic, was featured in a Florida State University News article, "Faculty Spotlight: How FSU’s Rima Nathan Turns Legal Education into Action."

The article highlighted Professor Nathan's leadership of the Claude Pepper Elder Law Clinic and its role in providing students with hands-on experience serving elderly clients. Through direct client interaction, students develop essential communication skills while learning the importance of empathy, professionalism, and community service.

Professor Nathan emphasized the clinic's commitment to delivering high-quality legal assistance to the community while preparing future lawyers to become compassionate advocates.

Congratulations to five FSU Law students who successfully completed the highly competitive 2025–26 Supreme Court of Florida Fellowship Program! ⚖️

Five of the nine fellows selected from a statewide pool of applicants were FSU Law students:

• Haven Branca (2L) — Justice Renatha Francis
• Mason Bennett ’26 — Justice Meredith L. Sasso
• Sheldon Burnell ’26 — Chief Justice Carlos G. Muñiz
• Zenani Johnson (2L) — Justice Jorge Labarga
• Steven Wiktorski ’26 — Justice Adam S. Tanenbaum

Throughout the fellowship, they gained invaluable insight into Florida's judicial system while working closely with the justices of the Supreme Court of Florida. Their experiences exemplify the unique opportunities available to FSU Law students through our proximity to Florida's highest court.

FSU Law Clinical Professor and Director of the Claude Pepper Elder Law Clinic, Dr. Rima Nathan, and alumna Alexis Fulton (’25) recently partnered with the Legal Services of North Florida Tallahassee Pro Bono Team to host an Estate Planning Clinic for the community.

Law students from the Elder Law Clinic and the Tallahassee Pro Bono Team spent the day assisting clients with estate planning documents and other legal needs, gaining valuable hands-on experience while serving others.
