The M3 students from the Sarasota Regional Campus participated in the 2026 Sarasota Memorial Health Care System Interprofessional Research Conference last month. This conference provides a chance to collaborate and present findings on clinical research and healthcare innovation.

Our dean, Alma Littles, M.D., received an unexpected and welcome surprise May 27, when Stephanie Nicholas, associate director of development for UF Health, notified her she was selected to be included on the UF College of Medicine Wall of Fame. Littles received her bachelorโ€™s degree and M.D. from UF. Nicholas presented Dr. Littles with a bouquet of roses and a letter from Jennifer Hunt, M.D., M.Ed., interim dean, UF College of Medicine, which states Dr. Littles received this honor given by the UF Medical Alumni Association for her โ€œperseverance and dedication to medicine as not only an exemplary doctor, but also . . . extraordinary commitment to rural health, medical education, and expanding access to care for underserved communities.โ€ Congratulations Dean Littles!

First-year M.D. orientation kicks off this week as we welcome a new class of 120 future physicians and 14 Bridge students. During the College of Medicine's annual Awards Presentation Ceremony for the graduating M.D. class, Dr. Fawn Harrison, pediatrics clerkship director for the Sarasota Regional Campus, was named the recipient of the Hippocratic Award, presented by Nicole Uthuppan, M.D. Class of 2026 vice president for the Sarasota campus. The award is presented to a clerkship faculty member from one of our six regional campuses who embodies Hippocrates' ideals of professional integrity, prioritizing patient welfare, the sacred trust between physician and patient, and the need to pass on these ideals to the next generation of physicians. During the ceremony, held in the Chapman Wellness Garden, Alma Littles, M.D., College of Medicine dean, also dedicated the bust of Hippocrates that was added to the garden last October. Funded by a generous donation from standardized patient Michael Dodson and his wife, Linda, and sculpted in Greece by artist Vangelis Ilias, the bust was installed by FSU's Master Craftsman Studio.
