In observance of Juneteenth, Florida A&M University will be closed on Thursday, June 19, as we honor the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and reflect on the enduring significance of freedom, resilience, and progress.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day news of emancipation finally reached enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It stands as a powerful reminder of our nation’s history and the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice.
FAMU Online offices will resume normal operations on Monday, June 22.
We wish our Rattler family a meaningful and reflective Juneteenth. 🧡💚
