We’re looking for Peer Navigators to lead the Fall 2027 semester of SLS 2206: Chart Your Course! 🤩

In this paid role on campus, undergraduate students:
📚 Complete all trainings, including HUM 4924 in the spring
🖐️ Commit to 5 hours a week, including teaching, holding office hours, grading, and 1:1’s
😁 Mentor and guide first year FSU students through their transition to campus next fall
🌴Discuss topics like FSU history and traditions, goal setting, academics, getting involved, and more

Meet 2026 Orientation Leader, Luis Luque Williams! Luis is a second year majoring in Political Science. He is originally from Orlando, FL. This summer, Luis welcomed his Loco Lobsters to FSU! 🦞🌀

📝 Why did you apply to be an OL?
The main reason I applied to become an Orientation Leader was representation. During my own orientation, seeing someone on that stage who looked like me and shared my experience as a first-generation college student was something I didn't know I needed until I experienced it. It made me realize how meaningful representation can be. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to be that person for other first-generation, low-income students who may feel lost or uncertain as they begin their college journey. I wanted to be someone they could relate to and look to for guidance.

💛 What is something you are taking away with you from this experience?
One of the biggest lessons I'm taking away from this experience is to always be yourself. No matter what life throws at you, people naturally gravitate toward those who are genuine and unapologetically themselves. Authenticity creates connection, and I've learned that being true to who you are is one of the most impactful things you can do.
