The School of the Environment (SOE), at Florida A&M University (FAMU), is a multidisciplinary unit that offers a wide range of services to students, governmental agencies, communities, and private and public sector companies and non-governmental organizations. SOE is committed to providing unique multicultural experiences for its students while still maintaining its reputation of being a historic
al leader in the training of underrepresented minorities in the sciences and environmental careers. SOE students are exposed to a broad variety of enriched learning experiences provided through several degree program options:
Environmental Studies, B.A
Environmental Studies, B.S. Students will experience state of the art research facilities housed in approximately 6,000 square feet of space within the Fred S. Humphries Science Research Center. Instruments available to both faculty and students in this facility include ICP/OES, high resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy with fiber optic access to the internet, and a high performance GIS computer laboratory to name a few. In order to maintain our cutting-edge status, laboratory equipment is continuously upgraded and replaced. SOE offers eligible students support through scholarships and work-study assistantships, such as the SOE's Scholars-in-Residence scholarship program. Students also have opportunities for internships in industry, state, and federal laboratories.
