The opening reception for "Floating Metal: UNDERcurrents In My Father’s Garden" is next Thursday! Join us at the FSU Museum of Fine Arts on Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. to see how the exhibition combines dance, live jazz music and camera obscura video projections.

Conceived by FSU Dance Professor and Guggenheim-winning choreographer nia love and co-curator Benin Ford, “Floating Metal” brings love’s choreography and dance films into conversation with the work of her father, Ed Love, a sculptor, fellow Guggenheim recipient and celebrated member of the Black Arts Movement.

The Florida State University College of Fine Arts is excited to welcome 7 faculty members into new roles this August in FSU Department of Arts Leadership, Education and Therapy, FSU School of Design, FSU Dance, FSU Department of Art, and The School of Theatre at Florida State. Four permanent faculty and several visiting faculty will teach their first courses at FSU this Fall.

“We are excited to welcome this impressive group of scholars and artists to FSU and to our College of Fine Arts family,” said Dean James Frazier. “As they begin their first semester at FSU, they bring added energy and meaningful expertise that will strengthen the College’s academic community for years to come.”

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: FSU Department of Art alum John Gleason (MFA 2006, Studio Art) is currently featured in “Beyond the Map” at the Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta. This exhibition brings together five artists whose work ventures beyond the familiar into imagined and psychological terrain. This group exhibition is on view July 31 – August 29.
