Faces of the Future brings together community partners from all corners of Florida to meet our talented students, who may one day become valuable members of their organizations. As our senior students approach graduation, we recognize the importance of establishing connections with these esteemed community partners for future employment opportunities. Our event serves as a platform for meaningful dialogues and networking opportunities to flourish.

In addition to introducing our students to local agencies and organizations, we also have a few of our esteemed alumni join us to share their valuable experiences in the field. This event is eagerly anticipated by our students every year, as it offers a glimpse into our vibrant community of interpreters, D/deaf professionals, collaborators, and business owners who are eager to embrace our students with open arms.

We want to thank all of the community partners who joined us for our event and took the time out of their busy schedules to chat with our students.

Today was Maiah and Brooke’s last day interpreting in their mock class. They’ve gone through three different rotations and three different teams throughout the semester. They worked together to prep for the class and supported each other constantly. We love to see future interpreters working so well together 🤟🏼☺️

This week we are featuring another member of our incredible team for internship, Haley Eyster!

Haley joined the HOUSF Team as coordinator a little over a year ago. Before that, she was a frequently requested ASL Interpreter for the members of the Deaf community that we serve in the Tampa Bay area while still mentoring interpreting interns.

Since becoming a coordinator, Haley has worked diligently to ensure that all interpreting interns receive the support and tools they need in order to become successful after graduation. This semester, she has been working with our interns in their mock classes. Haley takes this time to observe the interns’ work, provide feedback, and debrief after every class! As the scheduling coordinator, Haley is committed to ensuring all of our interns receive amazing opportunities throughout their internship.

CALLING ALL ALUMNI - Did you work with Haley as an intern? What was your favorite part about working with her?

Since we have such an awesome team here working with our interpreting interns, we decided to introduce them to you!

This week we are featuring Samantha Thomas. Upon learning that we were expecting 18 interns this Spring, Sam jumped at the opportunity to help and co-teach this class with Andrea Smith.

Sam has been working with our interns throughout the semester in their "mock" classes. These are classes that we have asked to join in order to provide our interns with the experience of interpreting in the post-secondary setting. While there is no Deaf student in the class, Sam is able to observe the interns' work, provide feedback, and debrief after every class!

CALLING ALL ALUMNI - What is your favorite part about working with Sam/ What is your favorite memory with Sam? Comment below to share!
