The University of South Florida Muma College of Business welcomed its first-year business students with a new tradition — a convocation to mark the start of their academic journeys.

Congratulations, Priya Dozier, on receiving the 2026 USF Innovation in Online Design and Teaching Award!!

The award recognizes faculty who combine innovative online teaching with intentional course design to create meaningful learning experiences for students.

Dozier is an associate professor of instruction at the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance. Through the development process with Innovative Education Learning Designer Koichi Sato, the online course FinTech & Payment Technologies connects students with working fintech professionals, incorporates current industry data and case studies, and gives students hands-on experience consulting with real fintech startups.

From a very young age, Gina Nazario knew she wanted to dedicate her life to medicine and to helping others. That passion began after her father suffered a heart attack. At the time, children were not allowed into hospital rooms during emergencies. When she couldn’t go in to see her father, she did what any 4-year-old would do.

She made a bold declaration.

“I remember telling the doctor that I wanted to become a doctor, so I would never be denied access to see my father,” Nazario said.

The moment shaped the course of her life.
