Faisal Mosque, upon completion, was the largest mosque in the world and is currently the fifth largest mosque in the world.
The total estimated cost for this project is $120 million. The construction began in 1976 after a $28 million grant from Saudi King Faisal, whose name the mosque bears.
A Turkish architect Vedat Delokay's unconventional design was selected after an international competition.
The interior of the Main Hall is decorated with calligraphy by the famous Pakistani artist Sadequain.
