Who gets a shot at homeownership in Arizona?
Conversations about Arizona’s housing crisis often focus on affordability and the need to build more housing. But increasing supply alone won’t ensure everyone has an equitable opportunity to own a home and build wealth.
The State of Black Housing Report 2026 examines disparities facing Black Arizonans in homeownership, mortgage application denials, household income, housing cost burden and asset accumulation. These gaps reflect broader challenges involving access to financing, policies and practices that have shaped housing opportunities, and systemic barriers that continue to affect Black communities.
Now it’s time to turn knowledge into action.
This fall, there are several opportunities to learn, participate and help move the conversation forward:
• October 16: Flagstaff Community Town Hall: https://www.aztownhall.org/event-6770183
• October 31: First-Time Homebuyer Workshop in Phoenix:

• November 12: Tucson Community Town Hall:

We’re grateful to NAREB Arizona Realtist Group and Arizona Town Hall for creating opportunities to connect people with resources, bring communities together and continue the housing conversation.
The data gives us a place to start. The conversation – and what we do next – matters just as much
