ASU School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies The official page of Arizona State University's School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies.

We are committed to advancing the study of humanities. Humanities are central in building a better, more sustainable and socially aware future. We investigate those matters that most make us human—mind, rationality and morality, spirit, and memory. Friends of the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies will be invited to participate in events that celebrate our degree interests, as well as opportunities to give input that will shape the future of our impact in our community.

Who gets a voice in American democracy? And how has this changed over time?

Join SHPRS and Alumna Terry Anne Scott for a Humanities Week lecture exploring the history of African American voting rights and the barriers voters continue to face.

Drawing on her forthcoming anthology, “Reclaiming Democracy: A History of Voter Suppression and a Handbook for Voting Justice,” Scott will examine how African Americans’ struggles for voting rights helped create change for other groups — and how today’s laws threaten to reverse this hard-won progress.

On November 4, the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies is bringing the classroom to the community for a FREE evening of interactive learning.
