Congratulations to ISU alums, Mark Eutsler and Jim Bertucci! Go Sycamores!
Today’s Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade has a special connection to Indiana State University.
When the 70th Lucas Oil 500 Festival Parade steps off at noon today in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana State University alumnus Mark Eutsler will celebrate his 30th year as co-chair of the nationally recognized event.
“That it’s 30 years and that I even had an opportunity to be involved is surrealistic,” Eutsler said.
Eutsler is a 1980 graduate of the Indiana State University School of Music. He has spent decades helping to coordinate one of the nation’s largest parades, welcoming marching bands from across the country and creating unforgettable experiences for student performers.
Since becoming co-chair, he has helped host:
🎶 510 marching bands
🚌 2,000 buses
👣 51,000 student performers marching more than 275 million steps
Mark also continues to support Indiana State through mentorship and service on the Indiana State University College of Arts and Sciences Community Advisory Board.
From the School of Music to one of Indiana’s most iconic traditions, Mark Eutsler’s story reflects what it means to “Take Root and Rise,” using an Indiana State education to lead, mentor, serve, and make an impact far beyond campus.
📺 The parade begins today (Saturday) at noon and will air live on WTHR-TV Channel 13 and WTHR's streaming app. An encore presentation will air Saturday at 7 p.m. on WTHR's streaming app.
