A brief history of the two entities dates from 1897 when the Department of Physical Training was first introduced to the university and then changing name in 1912 to Department of Physical Education.The Recreation and Sport Management area came around in 1965 as the Department of Recreation and renamed to Recreation Management in 1989. The Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport offers un

dergraduate degrees in Teacher Education and Exercise Science. Coursework for Bachelor of Science degrees in Physical Education prepare students for careers in educational settings while the Exercise Science curriculum is designed for students interested in careers such as fitness specialists, exercise physiologists, fitness center managers and geriatric fitness specialists. Concentrations in Recreation Management & youth leadership, Sport management, and Recreation Therapy are also offered.
