The College of the Mainland Lifelong Learning Center is located in the Mainland City Centre in Texas City and open to anyone age 18 and older who wants to pursue lifelong learning opportunities. The College of the Mainland Lifelong Learning Program’s mission is to provide educational opportunities for adult students by offering personal enrichment classes in a positive, accepting, and intergenerational environment. Community Education: Non-credit, fee-based personal development classes and workshops available to the entire community.
* Class/workshop fees are based upon content and costs
* Classes range from two hours to several weeks depending on topic
* Classes held primarily during weeknight evenings and Saturdays

50 Plus: Classes that are specifically designed to engage and serve the 50+ community.
* Class fees are $15 per 12-wk semester for adults ages 50+
* Classes are two hours each week
* Classes held during daytime hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) Trip/Travel Adventures: Day/Evening outings as well as extended travel opportunities for students to explore education through trips and travel.
* Trip and Travel fees vary depending on location
* Day and evening educational outings offered to increase student appreciation of different arts and cultures
* Extended travel opportunities available annually to explore both the US and abroad

🧼 Soap Making Fun! 🧼

Last night, Leticia Garrett, owner of Everyday Soap Company, introduced our students to the basics of soap making! Everyone got to create their own custom bars, choosing their favorite scents and colors. And by the end of the evening, the whole classroom smelled amazing!

Ready to try another fun, hands-on workshop? Leticia will be back on Thursday, November 12, to teach How to Make Sugar Scrubs! There are still spots available, so don’t wait!

Last night in League City, students learned how to create their own beaded spider using a variety of colors and bead styles. Each went home with their own unique creation to enjoy!

Our teen students and their adult partners enjoyed a Saturday afternoon being led by COM’s Culinary Chef Brittany Shelby at our first Teen Chef Academy where they learned a variety of culinary skills and gained confidence in the kitchen. It all came together as they prepared and enjoyed an entire meal by the end of the workshop!

Our second night of the Ikebana workshop is in the books! 🌿 Students focused on creating arrangements in both deeper and taller containers, using fall flowers plus foliage you can actually find growing in your own yard. Each student’s design was unique and beautiful!

Students had a fun time enjoying the musical variety show during 50's Night at Hometown Opry last Friday. There were a range of talented people performing along with the Hometown Opry Band all together in a 1950's-style production!

Yesterday, we enjoyed sharing our 50 Plus program at the Seasoned Saints Senior Health & Resource Fair held at Greater St. Matthew's Baptist Church in Hitchock. Community members were able to visit with different community and health organizations and there was even a 10-minute healthy stretching activity for all to participate in!
