This free, family-friendly event includes a free preparedness item and lunch for all guests, while supplies last. Meet Sparky the fire dog, watch exciting rescue and safety demonstrations and even try your hand at operating a real fire hose!

Sometimes a struggling garden can lead to something much bigger.

When Hilary moved to Tygh Valley, she quickly discovered that gardening in Wasco County was very different from Portland. Looking for answers led her to Master Gardeners, and eventually to a leadership role helping gardeners throughout the community.

Today, Hilary is putting that experience to work as as Wasco County’s Master Gardener and Community Horticulture Coordinator, connecting people with gardening knowledge, schools, community organizations, and wildfire-resilient practices. Her story shows how learning, volunteering, and a love of gardening can grow into a meaningful way to serve the community.

Wildfire Fuel Break Workshop & Tour
