One of the reasons for the creation of the Perkins Center was to enable consumers to access all the services they would need for a successful rehabilitation outcome in one location. Classes at the Perkins Center are held Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. Classes are dismissed for a few weeks over the summer, during the Christmas holiday, and on legal holidays. The Perkins Center is
a residential facility and operates a men’s and women’s dormitory unit on campus grounds. An Assisted Living Unit, staffed by nurses and patient aides, is available on campus for consumers who need assistance with activities of daily living to participate in their rehabilitation program. Transportation services are available for consumers to be able to enroll at the Perkins Center and return home at the conclusion of their program. Consumers can also live off-campus and commute to the Perkins Center for their services. Local residents can enroll for therapy services (e.g. physical therapy) provided at the Perkins Center on a fee for service basis payable through Medicare or private insurance.
