Nicholls Alumni Scholarship Spotlight ♥️⚔️

Emma Hebert has been awarded the Freshman Leader Scholarship!

We asked Emma to share a few words with the alumni and donors who made this scholarship possible, and she shared…

"I am incredibly grateful to the Alumni Federation and donors who made this scholarship possible. The support given means so much to me as I begin my journey at Nicholls State University. This scholarship is not only helping to relieve some of the financial burden, but it is also encouraging me to work hard toward my future career goals to maintain this honor. Additionally, being the recipient of this scholarship holds a special value to me as my mother received both Bachelor and Master’s degrees here at Nicholls State University. I am so thankful for your generosity and for investing in students like me. I hope to make the Nicholls Alumni Federation proud. I aspire to be able to make a difference in the lives of others through my career."

Emma is majoring in Allied Health Pre-Professional and is expected to graduate in 2030. We can’t wait to see you achieve your goals. Congratulations, Emma!

Last Thursday, during the Nicholls vs. Mississippi Valley State game, we were proud to recognize Gregory Wood, Jr. as our Alum of the Game! 🏈

Gregory Wood, Jr. is a 1999 graduate of the Nicholls College of Business Administration along with his wife of 27 years, Mindy Martin Wood. He recently completed five years of service on the Nicholls Alumni Federation Board, serving as President in 2024–2025. Greg's company, GAGE, is one of the nation’s leading Telecommunications, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Services company based in Baton Rouge and a longtime supporter of Nicholls. He was named to the Baton Rouge Business Report’s 40 Under 40 in 2012. In addition to these accomplishments, Greg also serves as the immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge, the 5th largest Rotary club in the world at nearly 500 members. Greg and Mindy have two children, Gracie, an LSU Architecture graduate, and Gannon, a recent Nicholls Accounting graduate pursuing an MBA.

Alyce Ledet has been awarded the Betty and Luke Ford Scholarship.

We asked Alyce to share a few words with the alumni and donors who made this scholarship possible, and she shared…

"I am incredibly grateful to the alumni and donors who made this scholarship possible. This scholarship is especially meaningful to me because Luke and Betty Ford were very special people in my life. They had a big impact on me and helped shape me into the person I am today. Being able to receive a scholarship in their name means a lot to me, and I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to continue my education while carrying a part of their legacy with me. Thank you for making this possible and for continuing to support students at Nicholls."

Nicholls Alumni Making Headlines⚔♥

Congratulations to Katie Scott (B.A.Ed. ’04), who was named Lisa Park Elementary’s Teacher of the Year and will also represent Terrebonne Parish as the 2027 Elementary Teacher of the Year!

A proud Nicholls graduate, Katie continues to make an impact in her community as a 6th grade math teacher. This year, she gave her students the opportunity to visit Nicholls, explore campus, and learn more about college and their future opportunities. Nicholls representatives also joined Lisa Park’s Career Day to help inspire students to start thinking about their goals and futures.

Congratulations, Katie, on this well-deserved achievement! We’re proud to see another Colonel making a difference in the lives of students and helping inspire the next generation of future Colonels!

Nicholls Alumni Making Headlines ♥️⚔️

Congratulations to Amanda Giordano (M.Ed. ‘10), who was named the Elementary Principal of the Year by the Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence! 🏆✨

After earning her bachelor's degree from ULL, Amanda came to Nicholls to earn her Master of Education in Educational Leadership in 2010. Over her incredible 25-year career in education, she has poured her heart into local classrooms and schools, serving as a dedicated teacher at Legion Park, Coteau-Bayou Blue, and Mulberry Elementary, an instructional coach at Dularge, an assistant principal at Acadian, and now, the proud principal of Bourg Elementary!

Congratulations, Mrs. Giordano! Thank you for leading with a passion for excellence and always putting students first; you are an outstanding example of a Nicholls Alumni.

Nicholls Alumni Making Headlines ♥️⚔️

Congratulations to Dr. Madge Gautreaux (B.S.Ed ‘98 & M.Ed. '07), who was named the High School Principal of the Year by the Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence! 🏆✨

After earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Nicholls, she received her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Administration from ULL, bringing a wealth of expertise and passion to local classrooms.

Dr. Gautreaux’s recognition comes at a deeply meaningful moment. At the beginning of the year, South Terrebonne High School reopened after years of recovering from the devastating damage caused by Hurricane Ida. This journey was defined by absolute perseverance and an unwavering belief that the school would one day feel like home again.
