Summer starts the football camp season at Nicholls with several different events bringing thousands of players to our area from all over the country.

Athletic Director Jonathan Terrell said Thibodaux and Nicholls take great pride in being the elite hub for football camps in the country.

1986 Division I-AA Playoff Team- 40th Anniversary

- The 1986 Nicholls State Colonels football team led by sixth-year head coach Sonny Jackson, the Colonels compiled an overall record of 10–3 and advanced to the NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship playoffs, beating Appalachian State in the first round before losing to the eventual national champion, Georgia Southern in the quarterfinals.

1996 Division I-AA Playoff Team- 30th Anniversary
Saturday, November 7, 2026 vs. East Texas A&M

- The 1996 Nicholls State Colonels finished with an 8–4 record (4–2 in Southland Conference), under second-year head coach Darren Barbier. The team earned a spot in the 1996 NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship playoffs traveling to Montana to play the Grizzlies.
