Heidelberg grad Brian Regan has a Netflix show coming Feb. 23! Brian was in school with us, then went back later to finish his degree around 2000. While we were in school, Brian published the cartoon Ned Stickman in the Kilikilik, Heidelberg’s student newspaper.

Here’s the Netflix trailer for his new show.
Seen “Brian Regan: On the Rocks” on Netflix yet?

Brian Regan tackles the big issues weighing on him, including aging, time, obsessive behavior, backpacks on airplanes, ungrateful horses and raisins.

Dear Friends of John Metz ’78,

As you may already know John Metz passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020:

Many of you have been reaching out and asking how we can honor John’s memory at his beloved Sweet Alma Home, Heidelberg University. After conversations with John’s wife, Mary, we have decided to raise funds for an endowment in John’s name for the American Junior Year (AJY) Abroad Program in Germany.

John participated in the AJY program and he credited it, along with all of his other Heidelberg experiences, for transforming him into the amazing person he was to each of us. John was known for sharing stories, smiles, hugs, inspiration, prayers, love, care and Skyline Chili. He was always lifting up others. How fitting it would be if we could carry on his tradition by giving and lifting up students who wish to explore Germany and the transformational experiences of study abroad!

Our goal is lofty. To have an endowment in his name at Heidelberg, we need to raise a minimum of $25,000. While this is a large goal, John’s personality was larger than life and touched so many. We know we can do this and already have committed over $ 8,000 to make this possible. If you are interested in joining us in memorializing John and honoring his legacy, you can make a gift by check to Heidelberg University with John Metz on the memo line and mail it to Heidelberg University, 310 E. Market St., Tiffin, OH 44883. You can also give by credit card at www.alumni.heidelberg.edu/give and select “other” and in the memory section include John Metz.

If you have any questions or need assistance with your gift, you can contact Ashley Helmstetter, executive director of Alumni Engagement and Major Gifts, at [email protected] or 419-448-2231.

Thank you!

We are sad that we have lost our beloved classmate John Metz to COVID. Reunions will not be the same without John. Prayers for his wife Mary and their wonderful family, and for all who will miss John’s friendship.
