We begin the phinal countdown for this phantastic Phi! We will miss Wonka more than words can say. She has embodied our motto of Do Ye Beste & know she will continue to do so for life.

8 Days to Commencement. 🎓🎉

Today, we highlight Health Science Major, Brigid Enright.

"I felt most proud to be a Student Prince when my grandparents came to campus to buy clothes from the bookstore as a gift to me. When they got to campus, they were confused about where to go and where to park, but students who didn't know who they were were more than willing to stop what they were doing to help them. My grandparents were very thankful and couldn't express enough how amazing these students were, and that they were glad that I would be joining that community."

Lynsey Hord to march in 2026 Rose Parade® with the “Band Directors Marching Band”!

The Saluting America’s Band Directors project has assembled band directors from across North America to march January 1 under the theme, “America’s band directors: We teach music. We teach life.”

Lynsey Hord, Director of Bands at Mohawk Local Schools, has been selected to join a marching band of more than 300 band directors from across North America in the Pasadena Rose Parade® on January 1, 2026. The band will accompany a colorful, animated float along the 5.5-mile parade route.

The Saluting America’s Band Directors parade entry will convey the theme, “America’s band directors: We teach music. We teach life.” to recognize the extraordinary dedication and accomplishments of band directors and music educators everywhere. Throughout their careers, the music educators in this band have collectively mentored and taught hundreds of thousands of students. These professionals not only teach and conduct music, they teach about life itself.

According to Hord, “I am so excited to have been given the opportunity to march in this wonderful parade. I look forward to representing the Mohawk community and can’t wait to have the chance to play alongside fellow music educators from around the country.”

The band will be directed by nationally known music educator and innovative band director Jon Waters, who will also lead rehearsals and other performances of the band when in Pasadena.

The sponsoring organization behind the Saluting America’s Band Directors project is the Michael D. Sewell Memorial Foundation, based in Pickerington, Ohio. The foundation was created to recognize and carry on the work of the late Mike Sewell, who dedicated his life to the school and community music programs in Pickerington and the Central Ohio area for almost 40 years.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, which means our annual Headstart Christmas party with the Excelsior Men’s Society! 🎄

We were able to provide gifts, hats, gloves, socks, and a meal to so many great kids ❤️💚

We want to give a huge thank you to Parkhurst for being part of this event and donating the meal for these families, and our wonderful alumni for raising over $1,400 for the cause! We couldn’t do it without you! 🎁

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍽🍁

Special shoutout to the Phis who helped plan the event, Toni “Mittens” Bradley and Rachel “Rigby” Shulaw, and an overall well done to Aaron Nelson and the WSU! It was a beautiful event and we had an amazing time learning about all the different cultures and enjoying the delicious food! 🗺️💛
