North Greenville University School of Theatre is excited to announce auditions for the first mainstage show of the 2026-2027 Season, Junie B. Jones, the Musical! Auditions will take place in Billingsley Theatre April 30th, beginning at 6 p.m. and run until at least 9 p.m. Auditions will consist of a vocal audition, a monologue, and a cold reading from the script.

For the vocal audition, prepare an upbeat song for Mrs. Angela Barrett running 55–65 seconds that highlights your energy and personality. An accompanist will be available. Bring your sheet music with you to the audition notating the appropriate start/end of your selection.

For the acting portion, prepare a 30-40 second monologue for Mrs. Amy Dunlap. The monologue should be energetic and comedic. Show us that you can have fun!

If cast, you will be expected to register for Musical Theatre Workshop (T/R 3:30 - 4:45) fall semester if your schedule permits. The class is available as 1 credit or 0 credit.

Rehearsals are projected to take place Monday through Thursday beginning August 20th, running each evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Several summer rehearsals may be added as availability permits. Junie B. Jones will run in the Billingsley Theatre September 17-19 and 24-26. In addition, we are planning four or five school tour shows, running during the weeks of Sept. 14th and Sept. 21st.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Barrett or Mrs. Dunlap.

From the MTI Website: Created by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, the team that brought you Dear Edwina, comes Junie B. Jones, The Musical – a delightful adaptation of four of Barbara Park's best-selling books, brought to life in a genuinely comical (and not strictly-for-kids) musical developed by TheatreworksUSA. Awaken a young person's desire to read with the sassy little diva, Junie B. Jones, and her adventures in first grade.

It's Junie B.'s first day of first grade, and a lot of things have changed for her: Junie's friend, Lucille, doesn't want to be her best pal anymore and, on the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Also, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and her teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks she may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament and a "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal," and first grade has never been more exciting.

Featuring a tremendously loveable character and fun-filled songs, Junie B. Jones will capture your audience members' hearts just as the books captivated an entire generation of students. The small cast, minimal design needs and performance accompaniment tracks make this an ideal show for theatres looking to tour schools or with strong education programs.

Our next Senior Spotlight is Corrie Owen!

Corrie is graduating with a degree in Theatre Performance.

She is a part of the theatre department's APO club.

Her most notable roles have been Queen Elizabeth in Richard III,
The Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol, and Ophelia in Break.

Corrie also served as Hair and Makeup Designer for The Women of Lockerbie and Newsies.

Her favorite memories are all the little moments she gets to share with her friends. Chatting and catching up in the dressing rooms getting ready for shows, coffee homework sessions, prepping for auditions together, everyone making an effort to remain kind even when completely overwhelmed and busy.

After graduation, Corrie plans to perform with Liberty Mountain, the Revolutionary Drama this fall. She also hopes to pursue an MFA in acting.

We are so proud of Corrie and can't what to see what she does next!

Our next Senior Spotlight is Sadie Beaumont!

Sadie is a Theatre major with a Performance track and a Digital Media minor. She was just awarded the Theatre Excellence Award for her work in the department.

She is a part of the theatre department's APO club and has been a member of Act II for two years!

Her most notable roles have been Madeline Livingston in The Women of Lockerbie, Alice Sycamore in You Can't Take it With You, and Sunny Freitag in The Last Night of Ballyhoo!

What is Sadie's favorite memory at NGU or with NGU Theatre?
"Oh gosh, I have so many! My first show here was The Last Night of Ballyhoo, and I have so many fond memories from that show specifically. It was such a small cast that we pretty much instantly became a family, and rehearsals were always a blast. I LOVED getting notes from our director, Josh Scott, after we would run the show, because it pretty much always included a hilarious moment or quote from him. I also loved the numerous Waffle House or Cookout runs with the cast!"

After graduation Sadie is planning on moving back to Bluffton, SC, which is home for her. Her plan is to find some fun side jobs to sustain me while I audition for theaters and possible film opportunities. She would also love to start doing more photography gigs and possibly start a business for that passion as well!

We are so proud of Sadie and what she has accomplished!
