Join us at Washburn University's Mulvane Art Museum next Friday afternoon for a discussion about representing Native perspectives in Kansas narratives. Three artists in "DoPiKa: Reinstate"—Norman Akers, Sydney Pursel, and Mona Cliff—will talk about how their communal identities, homes, and personal experiences shape their art.

We know law school keeps everyone busy, but Mulvane Art Museum is right on campus!

"It is common to hear Native American communities refer to their vehicles as 'ponies.' While progressing in the Cheyenne language, I noticed that many terms related to driving and automobiles had to do with horses. I was curious how to say the word 'tire' in Cheyenne and found one translation for it is 'leg.' This is the first time I remember wondering, 'What would the world look like if all Cheyenne translations were taken literally?'"
