KU Solar Car will not have a headquarters as the University of Kansas School of Engineering will cease to support the club as of July 31st. At the moment, we have yet to obtain an alternative space to store our equipment, and we are currently seeking support from any outside organizations. Please reach out to us via email at [email protected] if you are aware of anyone or know of any potential space in Lawrence, KS. We are open to any suggestions!

The team attempted to negotiate with the mechanical engineering department, but we were not granted an extension for our current headquarters at west campus. Unfortunately, August will be a difficult month without the necessary space for Astra as school starts shortly.

We would like to thank the School of Engineering for providing us with the space and the documents needed to race this year. Thank you to Dr. Robert Sorem, Dr. Michael Panethiere, Dr. Elizabeth Friis and Dean Arvin Agah for supporting the 2022 competition.

We are grateful for the support from our sponsors, the American Solar Challenge staff, our alumni, the solar car community, and our friends and family. The team would have not been able to compete successfully at the 2022 Formula Solar Grand Prix. We are so thankful to all of you for taking the plunge and enabling us to turn our concept into a reality.

KU Solar Car was the only rookie team this year to make it onto the track. As the event’s final minutes grew ever closer, the American Solar Challenge staff managed to graciously guide us throughout the remainder of the scrutineering process and cleared us for racing. When we drove our car onto the track, cheers echoed from all the teams who knew how hard we fought to get to that moment. We believe that this monumental moment represents the embodiment of all of our supporters, community, alumni and the team’s efforts to design, educate and innovate for future KU Solar Car Team generations.

Without the support, we could have never been able to get as far as we did, and we will continue to proudly display your name on Astra. We cannot wait to see what next year brings!

SCRUTINEERING DAY 1!

During the Roll Call today, we showed our school spirit as the KU Solar Car team by chanting the “Rock chalk, Jayhawk, KU!” which has become one of the highlights of the day according to some members! We also got a few people coming to talk to us about Astra, and it made us realize how far we’ve come🥲 Great job, team! Truly grateful for the journey! Now, let’s get back to the grind!!!
