The first couple of days in Edinburgh for the Sports and Politics study abroad has been great! On our travel from London to Edinburgh we stopped for a few hours in York. What a beautiful city! When we arrived in Edinburgh students had the option to go on a Rick Steve's guided tour of the Royal Mile. It was beautiful at dusk. Our first full day we got out of the city to a little town called Blackford to experience their Highland Games. Students were divided into teams and had to do a scavenger hunt which had a lot to with forcing students to engage with the locals. It was a wonderful day and cultural experience for our students in a beautiful, rural part of Scotland. In the evening a large percentage of students joined on a haunted ghost tour focused on the Grey Friars cemetery that is supposedly the most haunted one in the world. Our guide was excellent! Today is everyone's free day and we have groups going hiking, to different castles, touring Edinburgh, and many other places! Washburn University Washburn University College of Arts and Sciences

Its been another couple of busy days for the Sports and Politics in the UK group! Wednesday we started off with a bit of a relaxed morning where some students went shopping and some went to the British Museum with Karen and Dr. Moddelmog. We then went and experienced all the amazing history at the Lord's Cricket Grounds. In the evening we were given official lessons on how to play croquet from the Hampstead Heath Cricket Club. It was a beautiful night for that and all the students had fun! One of our instructors was originally from Ohio so it was cool to hear his story. Today students had a free day. Some went to Bletchley Park, others took in palaces and parks, a few went to Bath, some went zip lining, battleships and cathedrals were also seen. Tomorrow morning we head north for Scotland and cooler weather! It has been anywhere from 80-95 as a high in London while we have been here.....just like Kansas summers, except nothing here has air conditioning! The first 2 days of the Sports and Politics study abroad trip has been a blur!! This cross listed study abroad has 26 students exploring the crossover between politics and sports. Day 1 started with a trip to the Imperial War Museum, followed by a trip up to Sky Garden to see London from above, then had a tour lead by Dr Moddelmog hitting all the famous landmarks in old London, and ended with everyone enjoying supper in SoHo. Today we started with the Tower of London in the morning, then a tour of the iconic Wimbledon! We are just getting started on this trip so follow along every couple of days for more updates! Another semester of WUMoves is in the books. Student workers did a great job with clients all semester. As always, we continue to see improvements in those who participate in this program. Our summer session begins June 1st and will last until early August.

Shout out to a couple of KN Majors doing great things on the Tennis court for Washburn. Pavlos Parson was named the men's Most Improved Player, Renske Ubachs earned Senior Player of the Year honors on the women's side for the ITA Central Region. Congrats Coach Ronning too. His office is right next door.

Today we had our annual scholarship awards luncheon. We also had the chance to honor Nancy Holthaus Province and all her awesomeness since she will be retiring July 6th.
