As we celebrate our Centennial, we’re highlighting the stories of Pirates whose connection to NCMC has made a lasting impact.

Meet Kristi Harris, whose NCMC journey began through the dual credit program while still in high school. By earning a semester of college credit before graduation, she gained confidence and momentum that helped launch her educational and professional journey.

Kristi’s first “big job” was with NCMC’s Upward Bound program, where she found inspiring mentors, built lifelong friendships, and developed a passion for TRIO programs that remains with her today. Nearly 20 years later, she continues to serve students as NCMC’s Chief of Staff, helping create opportunities and life-changing experiences for others.

Kristi shares that NCMC was more than the start of her education—it was the launchpad for her career and a place she is proud to call home.

🎨 Congratulations to Jim Norris on being named Professor Emeritus at North Central Missouri College!

After 25 years of dedicated service to NCMC as an art instructor and director of the Doris Ryder Art Gallery, Jim Norris has been granted Professor Emeritus status in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the College, its students, and the arts.

Throughout his career, Jim inspired countless students through courses in Art Appreciation, Drawing, and Painting while helping cultivate a vibrant appreciation for the visual arts across campus and the community.

Thank you, Jim, for your years of dedication, creativity, and service. We wish you all the best in retirement and congratulate you on this well-deserved honor!

As we celebrate our Centennial, we’re highlighting the stories of Pirates whose time at NCMC has made a lasting impact.

Meet Loren Meservey (Class of 2014, Associate in Arts), who reflects on her time at NCMC as a meaningful chapter filled with growth, connection, and opportunity. Staying close to home allowed Loren to gain independence while building lifelong friendships and discovering her place in the community.

As a Student Ambassador and bookstore employee, Loren enjoyed helping prospective and current students feel welcomed and supported on campus. She shares that NCMC was more than just a place to take classes — it was where she gained confidence, became involved, and grew into the person she is today.

Turning ideas into impact 🔧

Students in NCMC’s 3D Printing class recently designed and printed fidget tools to help individuals manage stress and anxiety. After testing each item for quality and function, the class donated the fidgets to Centerstone in Trenton as part of a community service project.

This hands-on project gave students real-world experience while making a meaningful difference in the community. ❤️

Congratulations to Tori Dunks of Jamesport, MO, NCMC’s Outstanding Student for May!

Tori recently graduated from NCMC with her Associate in Arts degree and plans to transfer to Missouri Western to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Communications while continuing her collegiate dance career with the Griffon’s Spirit dance team.

At NCMC, Tori was a member of the Dance Wave team, a student worker in the President’s Office, and involved in SSS and PTK. She was also named the 2025-2026 Outstanding Student Worker.
