----------History----------
ESW-RPI was founded May 2005 and officially recognized by both ESW National and the Rensselaer Union that fall. In its first four semesters, the members of ESW-RPI engaged in a flurry of activity, including hosting a workshop on the benefits of biodiesel, designing a sustainable water pumping and filtration system for the Nigerian village of Umuluwe, facilitating Earth

Day activities on campus and collaborating with EcoLogic on numerous projects related to environmental issues on campus. By fall of 2007, 61 students and 2 faculty/staff members were affiliated with ESW-RPI, and the club was also recognized as a “developing” chapter of Engineers Without Borders. Since then, ESW-RPI completed several projects, including a milk pasteurization system in Langui, Peru, a solar powered computing classroom in Lascahobas, Haiti, and a shipping-container medical ward in Rantlamouaie, Haiti.

----------Our Vision----------
We envision a world in which engineering fosters environmental, social, and economic sustainability to improve both the quality of life and the condition of our planet. As a chapter of a growing international organization, we envision a world of environmental, social, and economic prosperity created and sustained by local and global collective action.

----------Our Values----------
People, diversity, integrity, partnerships, practical action, humility and respect

ESW participated in RPI's Exploring Engineering Day this year and helped lead a fun (and wet!) water pipe delivery system activity with Engineers Without Borders . I hope the girls and boys who attended enjoyed it as much as we did! Thanks to RPI's SWE and School of Engineering for organizing this great event every year!

Engineers for a Sustainable World RPI was at the ESW national conference in El Paso, Texas this past weekend! We had a fantastic time meeting other ESW chapters across the nation and attending all of the ESWCon events. We are completely charged with new ideas, new connections, and sunny Texas skies, and are ready to work on our own projects with newfound enthusiasm. A giant thanks to ESW HQ and University of Texas at El Paso for organizing and hosting the conference this year! As first-timers to ESWCon, we were blown away by the outstanding experience and look forward to attending the next one!

While preparing for our May Mexico trip, our Mexico team learned about Solar Collectors from Dr. Diana Borca-Tasciuc on Monday to see how they can improve the design of the solar water heaters we're going to be assessing, repairing, and building on the trip.

Dr. Diana Borca-Tasciuc focuses her research at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on power harvesting MEMS, heat transfer, luminescent solar concentrators, and PV materials.

Please support our team! Today's the last day to donate to our weR Gold project. https://impact.rpi.edu/project/13166

“Through ESW, I’ve learned that we can’t just wait around for others to solve the problems in the world, we have to take the initiative and go challenge them ourselves.” -Amy Wang, Chemical Engineering ‘21

3 days left to donate to ESW-RPI through our weR Gold! Please help us reach our goal so that we can continue to build solar water heaters and solar PV systems in Ek'Balam, Mexico! Any and all contributions are appreciated.

Help Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute raise $10,220 for the project: Engineers for a Sustainable World: Mexico. Your gift will make a difference!
