RPI Department of Public Safety

The Department of Public Safety is centrally located on the RPI campus. You can find us right accross the foot brindge from the Playhouse and next door to the Meuller Center. Our officer is open 24 hours and day, seven days a week. There is always an emergency dispatcher availble to assist with walk-in complaints to our officer along with several officer patrolling the campus. We are here to provi

de safety and assistance to our students, faculty, staff and visitors. We provide safety patrols for the campus and help to ensure that the various building are locked and secure. The Public Safety Dispatch Center receives emergency and non-emergency calls. The dispatcher will ensure that the appropriate resources are dispatched. That could include Public Safety Officers, EMS & fire personnell and the police. You can report an incidents of crime to Public Safety. It can be documented and investigated at a campus level. We will make referral to the Troy PD for apprppriate matters and when it is requested. Public Safety is also here assist in other ways also. We provide fingerprinting services to students for employment and internship purposes. You can call Public Safety if you need a safety escort within the campus and surrounding area. There are several RAD, Rape Agrression Defence, instructors here at Public Safety and they enjoy putting on programs. We provide a lockout service for offices and residence halls.
