Professor Whiteman Runs Him and Tribal Justice Clinic students filed an amicus brief to the US Court of Appeals, DC Circuit regarding the Tohono O’odham Nation v. Mullin case, which challenges the current border wall construction on the Tohono O’odham Nation reservation.

The next course for the Tribal Courts & Justice Administration (TCJA) Program, Tribal Courts Practice & Procedure starts Wed. Oct 28, 2026.

The TCJA program provides a strong foundation in the workings of tribal courts and justice systems, preparing you for a wide range of tribal-justice related careers. The curriculum covers the foundations of Native American law and policy, with a focus on federal Indian law, tribal courts, tribal criminal law, and tribal family law - all taught by industry leading faculty in the field.

Applications are now open for the Native Nation Institute’s Tribal Professionals Cohort (TPC)!

If you are a Tribal professional, community leader, or emerging Native leader looking to strengthen your leadership skills, expand your professional network, and create positive change in your community…then this is the cohort for you!

The NNI TPC is a year-long professional development program designed to equip Native leaders with the knowledge, tools and networks needed for Native Nation Building.

𝗔𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹:
- Explore the five principles of Native Nation Building
- Build connections with Tribal professionals from across Indian Country
- Participate in courses, seminars and professional development opportunities
- Strengthen leadership and networking skills
- Develop tools to help address challenges in their communities

The program is open to U.S. citizens of any U.S. Native nation (federally or state-recognized), with Tribal government practitioners and community leaders especially encouraged to apply.
