What do a Tesla Gigafactory, a car-free neighborhood in Tempe and a laboratory studying human decision-making have in common?

They are all part of the Eller Economics story.

Economics gives students a flexible foundation for understanding the choices that shape businesses, markets and communities. That foundation can lead in many directions—from Jakhongir Khaydarov ’26’s summer analyst internship at Tesla to Ryan Johnson ’06 co-founding Culdesac.

Eller is proud to be ranked No. 25 among public undergraduate economics programs by U.S. News & World Report.

The toughest management decisions rarely come with an obvious answer—and that’s exactly why strong leadership matters.

At Eller, Management and Organizations students learn how to lead people, work through complex challenges and make thoughtful decisions. Their learning extends beyond the classroom through research, case competitions, internships and experiences around the world.

That student experience is at the heart of Eller’s No. 18 ranking among public undergraduate management programs by U.S. News & World Report.

Which era feels like the “golden age” to you?

Marketers often assume people are most nostalgic for their teens and early 20s. But new research from the Eller College of Management found that fewer than half of consumers are most nostalgic for their formative years.

Caleb Warren and former Eller doctoral student Matthew Farmer developed a new “Nostalgia for Eras” scale to uncover which periods of the past genuinely resonate with different audiences.

Their research shows that nostalgia brings together three distinct feelings:
• Warmth when remembering the past
• A sense of loss that time has moved on
• The belief that life was somehow simpler then

The scale even helped predict which advertisements and movie trailers people preferred to watch.

The strategic lesson for marketers? Don’t assume which past your audience misses. Understand it.

Which era would you bring back, and why? Let us know in the comments below! 👇

An accounting degree can open the door to many different careers.

At Eller’s Dhaliwal-Reidy School of Accountancy, students prepare for opportunities in public accounting, financial services, industry, government and nonprofit organizations. Along the way, they build a strong foundation for the CPA Exam, connect with employers and learn from faculty whose research reaches far beyond the classroom.

That student experience is part of the story behind Eller’s No. 16 ranking among public undergraduate accounting programs by U.S. News & World Report.

Some of the ideas developed in an Eller classroom go on to become real companies. 💡

At the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship, students spend two semesters developing an idea, talking with customers, building a team and pitching to judges and investors. Along the way, they receive guidance from mentors with experience at companies including PayPal, IBM and Coca-Cola.

Over the last three years, 29% of new ventures developed at the Center have launched.

We’re proud to see this hands-on approach recognized, with Eller ranked No. 13 among public undergraduate entrepreneurship programs by U.S. News & World Report.
