For Kimberly Garcia, earning her degree was about more than reaching an academic milestone. It was an opportunity to grow as a leader while continuing to move her career forward.

Through the flexibility of the online format at UAGC, Kimberly was able to apply what she was learning directly to her work and build greater confidence along the way.

Now, after earning her BA in Business Administration in 2026, she’s continuing her educational journey by pursuing her MBA at UAGC.

Congratulations, Kimberly!

On October 13, we recognize the U.S. Navy’s birthday and the service, sacrifice, and connections that continue long after military service ends.

For John Aldrich, UAGC Executive Director of Military and Academic Partnerships, the day is deeply personal. His experience as a Navy Hospital Corpsman and Fleet Marine Force Corpsman, along with his connection to USS Arizona, continues to shape the work he does on behalf of military-connected students today.

“Being called ‘Doc’ is not simply a nickname. It is a responsibility and an expression of confidence. It means that Marines believe their Corpsman will be there when needed — often during their most difficult moments. That bond does not disappear when military service ends.”

Swipe through to learn more about John’s story, the University of Arizona’s connection to USS Arizona, and the legacy of service we continue to honor.

"During my time at UAGC I learned a lot about myself. Through the adversity of all the late nights and early mornings grinding out assignments, it was my resiliency that pushed me through to the end. While writing this I have my diploma in hand, so every challenging obstacle was well worth it!"

Behind every cap and gown is a story of what it took to get there.

For the UAGC Class of 2026, the road to graduation has included careers, family responsibilities, military service, unexpected challenges, changing priorities, and the support of the people who helped them keep moving forward.

Their journeys may look different, but they share something in common: the decision to keep going.

UAGC Alum of the Month Elijah Dyer’s story is one of resilience, perseverance, and continuing to move forward through uncertainty.

Just a few classes away from completing his Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management, Elijah was laid off from the job he had held for nearly six years. Rather than step away from his education, he used his newfound time to finish his degree.

Today, Elijah is a UAGC graduate, HR manager, and homeowner. He credits UAGC with helping him develop leadership and professional skills that continue to support his career.

“Instead of crumbling under the pressure of unemployment, I chose to lean into my education because I knew it would pay off. And it did.”

"When my employer encouraged us to take advantage of its educational partnership with the University of Arizona Global Campus, I decided to take a leap of faith. What made that decision even more meaningful was that I started my first class the same week I gave birth to my third son.

Today, I am proud to be a UAGC alumna, having earned my MA in Organizational Management. Throughout my journey, I somehow found the balance to be a wife, a mother of three boys, a business owner, and a full-time student—all while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA in every course. Beyond the classroom, I had the privilege of serving as a CHAMPS Peer Mentor and mentoring women in my community, encouraging them to return to school to pursue their career goals. I also served as a member of the Student Government Association and was honored with membership in several prestigious honor societies, including the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), Alpha Sigma Lambda, Golden Key International Honour Society, and Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society.

My journey has taught me that there is never a perfect time to pursue your dreams. If you are willing to believe in yourself, stay disciplined, and keep moving forward, you are capable of accomplishing more than you ever imagined."

- Diane Beldor, MA in Organizational Management, 2026

UAGC Student of the Month Barbara Bluitt’s journey reflects a commitment to lifelong learning, leadership, and personal excellence.

After earning her second degree from UAGC in 2026, Barbara continued her educational journey by pursuing a Doctor of Professional Studies in Organizational Leadership, combining her passions for leadership and psychology.

Along the way, support from mentor and fellow UAGC graduate Rodney Williams, UAGC faculty, her family, and her employer tuition benefit helped her balance work, life, and school while continuing to move forward.

“I’m proud to be a UAGC graduate because I’m a better version of myself today than what I was yesterday, than what I was last year, than what I was when I originally started, and I’m looking for great things to come as I continue on my educational journey.”
