What happens to language, cultural traditions and identity when people move across borders? 🌎

Journalism Professor Jessica Retis has spent the last year exploring that question in several countries, from Spain and France to Japan, Brazil and England.

Her research examines how Latin American diasporas use media to stay connected and how ethnic media are evolving across continents.

Recent graduates of the School of Journalism’s Bilingual Journalism program presented their capstone projects at the Consulate of Mexico in Tucson last week.

Richard Whitmer presented Bordernote, a documentary photography and storytelling project, which will be on view at the Consulate of Mexico through Sept. 25.

Mario Sosa presented his documentary film, "Migration 0: Return Stories in Mexico City," his final M.A. project.
