German Studies faculty, students, and alumni represented us in full force at this year’s theGSA (GSA) Conference in Phoenix! 🌵📚

A major highlight was the roundtable led by Dr. Joela Jacobs, Dr. James Orao (University of Nairobi), and Dr. Leonhard Herrmann (University of Leipzig), featuring an engaging discussion on the joint graduate program across the three partner universities. Department members also contributed broadly across the conference schedule by attending, organizing, and presenting in seminars, panels, and roundtables.

Congratulations to all the presenters on their outstanding contributions and a massive thank you to everyone who traveled to Phoenix to support our community! 🎉👏

Earlier this week, Dr. Joela Jacobs hosted Dr. Leonhard Herrmann (University of Leipzig) and Dr. James Orao (University of Nairobi) at the University of Arizona. The professors met with our German Studies faculty and graduate students to discuss the joint graduate programs across the three universities ahead of their upcoming roundtable at the German Studies Association (GSA) Conference in Phoenix.

It wasn’t all business, though, Dr. Herrmann and Dr. Orao also took a trip up to Mount Lemmon with graduate student Enock Amimo to soak in the incredible views! 🏔️☀️
