We love the 90's! Here are some significant milestones:

1990 – The Alfred M. Philips Health Sciences Center was dedicated at Metro Campus.

1991 – The Alfred M. Philips Health Sciences Center opened on the Metro Campus and provided more space for programs such as nursing and the open-to-the-public Dental Hygiene Clinic.

1992 – TJC graduate Carol Johnson became the College’s first Academic All-American Scholar, a recognition awarded by Phi Theta Kappa and USA Today.

1993 – TJC and Tulsa Technology Center jointly purchased the Skyline East building for use as a conference center and administrative offices.

1996 – Tulsa Junior College changed its name to Tulsa Community College. The College unveiled the new Performing Arts Center for Education and the TCC West Campus opened.

1999 – Responding to area needs for qualified veterinarian technicians, TCC created the Veterinary Technology program.

Yesterday we celebrated Tell a Fairy Tale Day but today, we’re celebrating a real-life story still being written.

Meet Carissa Lovell, a 2020 TCC graduate and lead teacher at Tulsa Educare, who is helping shape the next generation through curiosity, wonder, and growth.

"The two best parts of what I do are seeing the world through the eyes of a child and witnessing their growth in real-time. I am enamored with children's unwavering wonder and curiosity of the most seemingly mundane things that adults have become numb to, and I am endlessly honored to be able to support and facilitate them in their most crucial period of development.” -Carissa Lovell, AS Child Development, 2020

Because sometimes the most powerful stories aren’t found in books, they’re happening in our classrooms and in our community.
