Meet Aidan Magouyrk, this week's star student! ✨

Aidan is earning his undergraduate degree in Communication Studies and News Media with a Sports Media concentration. He is also completing the Accelerated Master's Program in Communication Studies. On campus, he is a C&IS Ambassador and is involved in Choir executive leadership, Oakley Society, Crimson Tide Productions and the Speaking Studio.

"I started in the Communication Studies department as a minor in Leadership Communication. When I took the Organizational Communication and Leadership & Strategic Communication classes, I realized that my true passion lies in leadership communication. I decided to turn that minor into a Communication Studies Major to further my understanding of leadership communication. I have focused my undergraduate and graduate research on leadership communication during organizational change. This department has made me a more conscientious communicator, a better leader, and helped me discover my passion for helping others grow in those same areas."

We are proud of the leader Aidan is on campus and cannot wait to see the impact he continues to make!

Meet Mary Lieb, our next Alumni Spotlight! ✨

Mary Lieb earned her undergraduate degree in Communication Studies & Advertising in 2016 and her Master's in Communication Studies in 2017. She now works as a Director at Signal Group, where she leads efforts in renewable energy, veterans' issues, and food and agriculture practices, helping clients navigate communication challenges.

"The Department of Communication Studies gave me a strong foundation in theory and practical application. The knowledge I gained from my coursework, combined with my involvement in campus activities, allowed me to apply these skills to real-world issues. I often reflect on how the program taught me project management, crisis communication, and relationship-building, all of which are crucial to my work today. I’m grateful for the opportunities the department provided and strive to pass on what I’ve learned to my team, clients, and those I interact with, whether it's mentors or peers."

Communication Studies sets students up for success, and Mary is a perfect example! 🤩
