Who says that the Middle Ages aren't still relevant today?
"In Florence, creative restaurant and bar owners have now taken inspiration from a medieval architectural quirk to keep their businesses and the spirit of the city alive."

Wine windows, or buchette del vino, are totally unique to Tuscany, and haven't been seen anywhere else in the world.

This year marks the 600th anniversary of the start of Brunelleschi's dome in Florence. This is the only remaining architectural design for it, made (as the archive explains below) in 1425 by someone trying to show that it couldn't possibly stand.

Coming in June - new musical compositions to be streamed online over the course of ten days, à la Boccaccio's Decameron, in which a group of friends heads to the Florentine hills to tell ten days of stories and escape the plague of 1348.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we draw on Boccaccio’s example to offer some musical responses. We have asked 10 pairs of composers and performers to write and perform brief solo works to be premiered online over the course of 10 days in June. The composers and performers are working remote...
