Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Celebrates Father’s Day and Affirms Support for the March of Dimes Strong Fathers Initiative

This Father’s Day, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. proudly joins families, communities, and partners across the nation in honoring fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors, and father figures whose leadership, love, and commitment help shape future generations.

As a fraternity dedicated to Culture for Service and Service for Humanity, Phi Beta Sigma recognizes that strong fathers are essential to building strong families, healthy communities, and a brighter future for our children. Through its partnership with the March of Dimes and support of the Strong Fathers Initiative, the Fraternity remains committed to advancing maternal and child health, promoting responsible fatherhood, and increasing awareness of the vital role fathers play in family well-being.

“Fatherhood is one of the most important forms of leadership,” said David A. Turner, International President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. “Every day, fathers across our communities demonstrate resilience, sacrifice, and dedication to their families. Research continues to demonstrate that involved fathers contribute to healthier pregnancies, improved birth outcomes, stronger emotional development, and greater long-term success for children. The March of Dimes Strong Fathers Initiative seeks to empower fathers with resources, education, and support that encourage active engagement throughout the parenting journey.

I urge each of you to take your health seriously by scheduling regular checkups, staying active, eating healthier, managing stress, and addressing concerns before they become major issues. We cannot effectively lead our families, serve our communities, or fulfill our purpose if we are not taking care of ourselves. Your health matters because your life matters. As we commemorate Juneteenth, we honor the enduring spirit of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice. Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865—the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It is a powerful reminder that freedom must not only be declared but also protected, exercised, and advanced.

Today, the Phi Beta Sigma Civic Center stands as a modern expression of that responsibility. Freedom is most meaningful when individuals are informed, engaged, and empowered to shape their communities. Through voter education, civic engagement resources, and nonpartisan information, the Civic Center helps ensure that every eligible citizen has access to the tools needed to participate in our democracy.

Juneteenth calls us to reflect on the sacrifices of those who fought for liberty and to recommit ourselves to the work that remains. The Phi Beta Sigma Civic Center advances this legacy by encouraging voter registration, educating citizens about the electoral process, and promoting informed participation in local, state, and national elections.
