The MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) Program provides science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) majors academic help so that they can excel and transfer to a four year institution in these majors. MESA is supported by industry so students can learn firsthand about career options, special scholarships and internships. Mendocino College has a MESA center that is intended f

or quiet study, tutoring, academic excellence workshops and group study. We have computers, calculator check-out, a microwave and refrigerator for student use. We also have a MESA club that fundraises to give a student scholarship at the end of each year, the club also helps students get leadership skills by having elected officers.

GREAT OPPORTUNITY FROM UC BERKLEY!!!!

Greetings from UC Berkeley!
The Transfer-to-Excellence Research Summer Research Program at UC Berkeley is now accepting applications for summer 2023. This is a great paid opportunity for California community college students in STEM. Please share with your colleagues and students.
We will be hosting four online information sessions, starting Tuesday 11/8 at 7pm. These sessions are opportunities for students to learn more about undergraduate research, how to find positions as a CC student, tips for applying, and the specifics of the Transfer-to-Excellence program. The dates and registration link can be found here.
Our summer 2023 program will offer research opportunities throughout the field of engineering. Due to a recent increase in funding, we strongly encourage students interested in computer science to apply.
Very best wishes,
Nicole

Hello MESA!

We are gearing up for another semester with on-ground tutoring, trips to campuses, and many food events! It might be easier to stay in your PJ's, but the vibe here at Mendocino College is we are back!

In that spirit, we are starting our UC TAG workshops soon, please see the attached flyer and register. TAG stands for TRANSFER ADMISSION GUARANTEE. There are 6 UC campuses that participate:
UC Riverside - Highlanders
UC Davis - Aggies
UC Santa Cruz - Banana Slugs
UC Merced - Bobcats
UC Irvine - Anteaters
UC Santa Barbara- Gauchos

If you complete the TAG workshop and meet the criteria, you have Guaranteed Admission to those UC's. This is huge, it is very competitive for UC admission, the TAG is the ultimate "cutting in line" and very much worth the investment of your time.

IF considering the UC system, this is by far your best strategy to get in.
All the best and good Luck - Eric
