Congratulations to SCC Student Diamond Pearl (with her daughter Harper). Diamond is pictured with her certificate as the Summer Early Registration Winner. Through the Vice President of Student Affairs’ Early Registration Incentive Initiative, her books and consumable supplies for the Summer 2026 semester have been covered.

Diamond's name was selected during the drawing held on Friday, May 22. She will also have another opportunity to be entered into the Fall 2026 Early Registration Drawing, which will take place on Friday, August 7. Students who register early for their Fall 2026 classes are automatically entered for a chance to win in the August drawing.

The Early Registration Incentive Initiative encourages students to register early, secure the classes they need, and take advantage of opportunities for additional financial support.

Today was an exciting day at Shawnee Community College as we hosted the first of several Start Strong @ SCC Orientation events!

Incoming students and their families had the opportunity to connect with faculty, staff, and recent graduates while learning about the programs, services, and resources available to help them succeed at SCC. The day included a graduate panel discussion, a resource fair, campus information, and, of course, lunch.

Since it was also National Mascot Day, Bernie stopped by to welcome our newest Saints and pose for a few photos along the way!

We're starting the day with a salute to Bernie, since it's National Mascot Day.

Bernie is the beloved Saint Bernard who has been a big part of Shawnee Community College for decades.

Last week, Bernie joined in on the Amazing S.A.I.N.T.S. Basketball Camp. With a little positioning from Coach John Sparks, Bernie took his shot, but did he make it?

These one-hour sessions are designed for parents and guardians who want to learn more about the Educational Talent Search program and the opportunities available to their students. During each session, we will discuss:

• The services and support Educational Talent Search provides to students in grades 6–12
• College and career readiness resources available through the program
• Upcoming summer activities, events, and enrichment opportunities
• How families can stay engaged and help their students prepare for future success
• Time for questions and answers
