For this week's Shawnee Swag Sunday, we're back on the golf course, this time for the Laborers' Local 773 Edward M. Smith Golf Tournament.

Ed Smith, the namesake of the gym at Shawnee Community College, was a longtime supporter after playing basketball at SCC in the 1970s.

Saints family members Blake Goforth, Jonathan Van Meter, and Tyler Presser represented SCC, along with friend of the College Chris Mosier.

The Shawnee Community College Employee Relations Team is proud to announce Dr. April Dollins as the Super Saint for May. The Shawnee Super Saints award recognizes and celebrates employees who go above and beyond in their roles, embodying the college’s core values and making a significant impact on students, colleagues, or the community.

The colleagues who nominated Dr. Dollins had this to say about her:

Kudos to Dr. April Dollins for her dedication and leadership in ensuring the nursing program continues to run smoothly for both students and faculty. She has stepped up to support grant initiatives, assist with hiring efforts, and manage accreditation responsibilities.

Shawnee Community College was proudly represented earlier this week at the Illinois Community College Board Program Review Advisory Committee (PRAC) statewide meeting in Springfield.

Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness Dr. Kristin Shelby attended the meeting as part of her continued service on the committee. 2026 marks her fourth year serving on PRAC, which advises ICCB on program review matters statewide.

We appreciate Dr. Shelby’s leadership and her continued work representing Shawnee Community College at the state level.
