As a reminder, the UCF Counselor Ed Program, Chi Sigma Iota (CSI), and the Orlando Magic have joined forces to promote the fourth annual Mental Health Awareness Night at the Orlando Arena on Saturday, February 10th. The deadline for purchasing tickets is this WEDNESDAY January 31st
What this means to you is the following:
1) Discounted tickets (in blocked seating) for the Magic game on February 10th (game time is 7pm) are being offered to our Program’s students, staff, and faculty (as well as their friends, family, and significant others). We are being offered as many tickets as we want at the discounted rate of $14/ticket (upper bowl, section 203) or $32-35/ticket (lower bowl, section 101 or 102).
a. In order to purchase tickets, simply click on this link: https://groupmatics.events/event/MHAN2018 Determine the number of tickets that you would like to purchase (spouses, partners, friends, kids – all are welcome) and follow the directions to complete the transaction. Remember to get tickets in either Section 101 or 102 (lower bowl) or in Section 203 (in the upper bowl). This offer is for all students, staff, faculty, and guests.
b. The deadline for purchasing tickets is January 31st.
2) CSI is offering a free Professional Development Seminar on the same day February 10th (from 4:30-5:30pm), which is being presented before the game begins at the Arena in the DEX Imaging Suite overlooking the Orlando skyline.
a. The topic will be Me and not Me: The Power of Boundaries and will be presented by Dr. Gulnora Hundley. CSI members, Counselor Ed and School Psych students (and guests), faculty, staff, and others from the community are invited to attend this seminar.
b. Following the presentation, we will continue to congregate in the suite. It’s a sweet suite!
c. There MAY be extra credit opportunities for students who attend (check with your instructors), though that shouldn’t be your primary motivation.
3) During half-time, representatives from our Program will be on the game floor to promote our Program, the Community Counseling and Research Center (CCRC), and the Marriage and Family Research Institute (MFRI) to the Arena audience.
4) The CCRC and the MFRI will be “tabling” in the main foyer of the arena before the game to promote their services to all game attendees.
So, exciting, huh? This is a perfect opportunity to come out, mingle, promote mental health, and see the Magic all at the same time!!
