Military and Veteran 's Club of Kean University

We are formed in mutual aid and service to our Nation, the university community and each other. Our club serves with the memory of those that have gone before us, and remember that our first duty is to empower and support Kean's transitioning veterans and their families in all that we do. Our membership is open to any and all persons that would have the courage to volunteer in order to help their

fellows. All members will and do recognize that they are volunteers in free association with one another for the purposes of the organization, and that the club in no way serves in any official government capacity. The mission of the club is simple: to empower and support the transitioning student service member and their family. The club will accomplish this mission by engaging in the various tasks of peer mentoring, peer support and veteran empowerment. It will also engage the surrounding community through acts of volunteerism. Endeavoring to accomplish all of these tasks in some form, every semester, is a burden the entire membership will gladly shoulder. It is the vision of this club to take ownership of the narrative of what it means to be a veteran at Kean University by accomplishing this mission. By demonstrating a passion for service, unmatched professionalism and a love for community, the MVC of Kean will demonstrate a positive, actual image of what it means to be a modern veteran. By this example, we hope to raise awareness of veteran’s issues. In addition, it is by duty—for the good of itself—that our membership always pledges to care. The MVC recognizes the unique challenges faced by many service members and the environment that the club facilitates will always be accommodating of any and all persons. No one will be forgotten by the club—be they veteran, dependent or civilian. We recognize that we are a community and in this life together; regardless of our current title. Spring 2013 General Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of every month, during college hour (1530 - 1625), room CAS 116/117, unless otherwise posted. President: Keri Wanner
