A bit of college counseling news for you all. The ACT is changing for Spring 2025.

Science is gone.

Well, sort of. It will be optional. Students will take the ACT, the ACT with science, the ACT with writing or even the ACT with science and writing. Super simple right.

Advising students will come when some colleges want none, some or all of these sections.

The ACT proper will be two hours versus three, so that’s cool!

ACT is a mission-driven nonprofit organization. Our insights unlock potential and create solutions for K-12 education, college, and career readiness.

For the first time since I started my college consulting business, I am making this announcement.

The Askmrreeves Class of 2025 is now closed.

I am still happy to provide consultations for students in future classes, but in order to keep enough availability to (1) be the best I can be for my students and (2) stay sane and free enough to be a great Papaw, the class is closed.

College admissions is complicated, and I am here to guide families and students. From writing great essays to submitting impeccable applications, I create a calm and confident approach to this hectic and stressful process.

The Craft Academy at Morehead State had a student match to Davidson College through the QuestBridge College Match program. He will receive full funding through Davidson College, one of the best colleges in the nation.

On a personal note, Davidson was minutes from my mom's house in Lake Norman, North Carolina and one of my favorite campuses.

If you look up Bates College, you will see that the students are ‘famously nice.’ It is a beautiful place, and my heart goes out to everyone in Lewiston, but especially to the students and staff who were directly in this killer’s path. He likely drove right by.

This is the kind of school where students support each other, where a ca****la is as big as sports and where guests like me are treated like family. My visit in August seems even more important now.

Hello Northern Kentucky! College deadlines are approaching, and to help I have partnered with Boone County Schools, Erlanger-Elsmere Schools, Grant County Schools and Kenton County Schools to host a FREE College Essay Workshop.

October 21st and 28th (6-8PM each night).

A special thank you to the Youth Services Centers of each high school in these districts for making this FREE to all their seniors (and juniors if you want a head start or are applying to GSP).

For the last comment, I'm a little sad about your summer, but I'm happy that the College Application Camp has been helpful to hundreds of students over the past 10 years.

I am pleased to offer this year's camp virtually from August 2nd-5th (9AM-12PM).

In short, students complete the Common Application, draft the personal statement, review their essay draft, begin their academic resume, all while gaining confidence in the year-long process of applying to colleges.

Askmrreeves College Consulting works with some pretty amazing students! Congratulations to Lexi Baker from Villa Madonna Academy, Maleah Fisher from Beechwood High School, and Alison Owen from Beechwood High School on being selected as Kentucky Governor's Scholars!!

These students are leaders in their schools and are truly destined for greatness in the years to come. I'm lucky that I get to keep working with them as seniors, too! And again, a heartfelt congratulations!! You worked hard and earned this honor.
