Student Nurses Association is proud to partner with Versiti Blood Center to help support lifesaving blood donations throughout the upcoming academic year. We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to participate in our campus blood drives and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients in need. Every donation has the potential to save multiple lives, and the need for blood is constant. Please see the upcoming date and location attached, and consider scheduling an appointment to donate.

In addition to helping patients in our community, your donation can directly benefit our nursing students. Each month, Versiti awards a $400 grant to the college campus with the highest number of blood donations. If our campus earns this grant, the funds will be awarded to the Student Nurses Association and used to support educational, professional, and community-building events for nursing students throughout the year.

📢 SNA Point Opportunity 📢

The SVSU Nursing Simulation Center is excited to host the 2026 International SimGHOSTS Conference at Saginaw Valley State University from August 4–7, and we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us ensure the conference goes smoothly.

SimGHOSTS is an international conference focused on healthcare simulation technology, operations, and IT support. It brings professionals together for hands-on training, workshops, expert insights, and other activities that help improve patient safety and healthcare education.

Volunteer responsibilities may include checking in participants for sessions, helping conference attendees with directions, and assisting with the 5K event we are planning during the conference. Your time commitment is flexible. You can volunteer for the full conference, a full day, half a day, or even just a couple of hours. Conference hours will run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. As a thank-you, volunteers will receive a conference t-shirt, lunch on the days they volunteer, and possibly the opportunity to attend a conference session that interests them once the final schedule is released. We will also provide certificates that volunteers can add to their professional portfolio.

If you are interested, please contact Megan Novak at [email protected] or Janet Ofori-Darko at [email protected] with your preferred dates and times of availability.
Thank you for your consideration!

We are proud to recognize Dr Rose Lange, pictured with her husband, as the recipient of the Lane Family Award for Nursing Faculty. This honor reflects her dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence in nursing education. Congratulations! 🩺

- A message from the nominating committee

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Rose Lange is the recipient of the Lane Family Award for Nursing Faculty. Dr. Lange has been a dedicated member of the SVSU nursing faculty since 2001, earning widespread admiration for her compassion, approachability, and commitment to student success across both undergraduate and graduate programs. Her versatile teaching spans face-to-face, online, clinical, and simulation settings, and she is especially recognized for broadening students' perspectives beyond hospital care to include community and population health. A true leader in nursing education, Dr. Lange has chaired both the undergraduate and graduate program committees and guided the nursing program through its most recent curriculum revision. Among her most celebrated contributions is a poverty simulation she has facilitated for over 15 years, enriching students' education across SVSU and positively impacting the broader community's understanding of those experiencing poverty. Beyond the classroom, she actively mentors graduate and doctoral students in their research and fieldwork, and her influence extends to the careers of colleagues she has guided and inspired. Dr. Lange's unwavering dedication to her students, her profession, and her community makes her a truly deserving recipient of this honor.
